You saved my number?

A few weeks ago, I was running errands and received a text message from a number that I apparently didn't have in my phone."Hey, how are you?"                                                                                                                                                                              First thing I thought….shit, is this someone I had gone out with once or twice from the dating site?

"Sorry who is this? New phone….lost contacts"  [Is this the go to for anyone else when they either didn't save a phone number or deleted people off their phone?]"Dan"

Shit…..Dan….Dan who….ummmm can't be the two that I know, cause they are in my phone!

"?"……………….."Alex's friend."
…………..OH MY GOD……ALEX'S FRIEND?! Alex as in….the guy I dated for a little while LAST FUCKING YEAR!?

--Quick break for a second, let me explain, I dated this guy and we used to hang out with his friend, Dan, and Dan's then girlfriend. Alex and I didn't work out, and I stayed friendly with Dan's then girlfriend [to which I we both talked about the guys when we had broke up with them….I mean, common…girls talk!]

"Oh…hey, wow….long time. You still have my number?""Well I was just going through my phone and passed your name and thought I hadn't talked to you in a while so I thought i'd say hey""Oh" ummmm my name is at the beginning of MOST people's phone….you most likely pass me every time you see your contact list….

Since this exchange, [which I didn't even post everything] I have yet to save his number--and I have been asked out for wine tasting..you know, to catch up.Is it rude of me to keep putting it off? Should one just bite the bullet and tell him I'm not interested? Cause I'm pretty sure I've made it clear that ''I'm busy'' ''I've got a lot going on right now'' okay, fine, men aren't the brightest when we drop what we women assume are clear cut ''NO".I mean after a YEAR…a YEAR!? And I dated your best friend [who had a VERY hard time when I broke things off with him…]  Sorry, but it's a no.
